Buffalo, Wyoming came to be known as the "Rustler's Capitol" and is home to the famous Johnson County War in 1892, which pitted the small ranchers and farmers against the big cattlemen. It took the US Army to restore order after the small ranchers had the big boys holed up in a farmhouse and about to murder them all.
Also in Buffalo is the Occidental Hotel which was founded in a tent in 1879, and today is reputedly the only fully restored frontier hotel in Wyoming. It's Old World ambience reflects it's original grandeur and the saloon's back bar is a thing of beauty. It features a painting of a full sized nude in a side room. (Photo on Request).
Later we stopped in Ogallala, Nebraska, named after the Oglala tribe of the Sioux Nation. It features "Front Street", a replica of an Old West town.
Love to all from the homeless ones, Bob & Virginia
